I Finally got round to buying myself a nice Project Debut 3 record deck. Being second hand, i got a good deal but i also got it without a stylus.
On Saturday i rectified this situation, buying an Ortofon 10. The hefty price tag of £43 put me off somewhat until i heard the results. Even through my 15yo old amp the sound was stunning. Comparing Billy Jean on Vinyl to Spotify was such a beautiful revelation. The drums sounded open, clear and full of presence. I cant wait to get home tonight to listen again.
In fact this reminds me of two projects i would like to do if i ever find time.
1. Listen to every vinyl record i own (500+, passed down from my dad), digitize and review each one and use a blog to capture these for posterity.
2. Start 'The Listening Rooms'; a club night/event with the sole objective of listening to great albums (think Astral Week) at the highest possible fidelity. The anti-spotify night.
